Have you done the work to accept yourself? If we take a close look, you might be surprised. Many of us have hidden battles with self-acceptance and it comes out in all kinds of ways.
Let me explain.
Many of us think we’re free. And in some ways we are – we’re free to choose whatever options are available to us.
And we DO have control over those choices.
But what if there was something that influenced our choices? Something that we hadn’t even recognized as influencing our choices? Making us do things that really, we didn’t want…and even choosing some things that are against our highest good.
The truth is, if you are walking around with a pile of shame or guilt, you are in that spot. If you’re stuck in a feel-bad loop about your past, you’re not free.
If you are worried about what’s going to happen in an unknown future, you’re not free.

One of the biggest things in the way of being free for most people (I’m going to guess 99% of people deal with this AT SOME POINT in their lives!) is not FULLY accepting themselves.
And there are a MILLION ways people don’t accept themselves:
- housing situation
- relationship status
- food preferences
- fitness level
- body shape
- health (especially relating to chronic disease)
- education level
…and the list could go on!
When you feel shame, guilt, or worry about any of these things – when you don’t feel good enough or feel like you need to hide these parts of yourself, life gets icky. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, you are more likely to feel bad. It might come out as jealousy, envy, anger, or despair, but it’s all rooted in this one thing: feeling not enough.
But life doesn’t have to be that way.
