Last week brought us to June which means we’re nearly half-way through the year. It’s a good time to check in about goals – namely where I wanted to be and where I am.

To be frank, I’m not sure where I wanted to be by this time. I think I wrote a few half-baked plans at some point. Then I scratched them out. Then I wrote more. Then I started meditating and things changed fast.

Here’s a recap of everything I’ve done in the first half of 2016:

  • Attended BinderconLA.

  • Attended AWP conference.

  • Got poems published in Angel Flight-Literary West (Note: You can find links to all featured posts/publications here.).

  • Had 3 podcast interviews (if we include the one recorded this morning!).

  • Guest-posted/was interviewed on a number of blogs (and more planned – links will be available as they get posted).

  • Established the Intentional Writer Interview series (one of my favorite things!).

  • Made connections with some amazing writers through groups, conferences, and blogs.

  • Published and launched 2 books.

  • Revamped my social media strategy.

  • Revamped my newsletter.

  • Grew my subscriber list.

  • Clarified blogging goals.

  • Established blogging calendar.

  • Built affiliate partnerships.

  • Submitted to a few different markets.

  • Maintained my educational goals (approximately 10 hours continuing ed weekly).

  • Started and maintained two writing groups.

  • Had several speaking engagements (despite not having a demo video! Oy!).

Moving forward, I’m going to be more open about my intentions from now until December. With that in mind, my goals/intentions for the next 6 months are:

  • Grow this blog

    • Double pageviews or better.

    • Maintain consistent epic content relevant to empathy and compassion (same columns).

    • Increase reach by 50% or better of present numbers on all channels.

  • Grow my newsletter.

    • By 10x or better subscribers.

    • Maintain 50% open rate or better.

  • Grow my speaking.

    • Record a demo.

    • Contact relevant clubs and organizations.

  • Maintain at least 2-4 guestpost/interviews on other blogs monthly.

  • Secure between 3-6 literary zine, contest, and or major site publications by December.

  • Write and publish the Compassion Guide (working title?)

  • Decide and execute online courses.

  • Build more affiliate and sponsor partnerships.

This is how I will spend the remainder of 2016 – getting these things done.

Through my relationships with other writers and entrepreneurs, I’ve completely changed my professional life and I am confident it will continue to grow and change. What will it look like in December? I can’t know for sure, but I’m positive I can achieve the above or better.

For me, it’s all about spreading my message. The more people get my message, the more the idea of compassion and empathy narratives spread. The more these ideas spread, the more culture shifts in a positive direction.

Just the thought of spreading compassion and empathy lights my heart! I can’t wait to see what this week holds, let alone the month or the year! Good things are coming for the highest good of all. It’s going to be awesome.
